B'sgirl, I can't see the clip on my mom's computer (I'm at their house right now), and I'm wondering -- is that Maisy the Mouse that used to be on TV?? (a cartoon) I loved that show. It's very cute.

What about Shrek? I don't know b/c I've never really watched it, but I've heard others say that their children really loved it. I have issues with language that is used in some of the new movies too though... ie: the end of Shrek sings, "I like big butts, and I cannot lie...." I don't want C going around singing that. I don't want him to say butt at all, ideally. We have other words that sound nicer. So, Jana, I guess I'm picky too.

On that note, I will mention that I think we pick up on things kids don't even notice whatsoever (now that we're older and thinking about what children should/should not say). When I was still teaching, we went on a field trip with 8th graders, and someone brought the DVD of Grease for the bus ride. WOAH... I never noticed how much sexual content there was to that movie until I watched it with a bus full of 8th graders!!! I seriously watched that movie ALL THE TIME with my family when we were little -- it's still a Thanksgiving tradition that we bust it out after our big meal (the women, anyway). I don't know why we do it on that holiday, but we do. LOL. I never noticed the language until I was thinking of children watching it. I don't think kids notice half of the stuff we think they do, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with being careful and thinking twice about what is appropriate. I would definitely do the same thing.

B has most of the pixar movies and likes them all fairly well (LOVES CARS - that was his first) except Ratatouille - I agree, it is very slow and way over a child's head.

Just wondering, has anyone seen the new Dr. Seuss movie - Horton Hears a Who? My mom bought it for B for Christmas, but none of us have actually seen it yet...

I've wondered about some Dr. Seuss, myself, but I'm not sure which ones are new or old. I saw a video recently in Target that was a cartoon of either Horton or something else, and was curious about it.

I am so amused that other kids don't like Ratatouille! My son totally LOVES that movie! He pretends to cook all the time (hence the play kitchen he's getting for his bday), walks around like a rat, and recites lines from it, lol!

We watched Horton when it first came out in the theater and again at a free screening last weekend. My son loves it and it is totally appropriate for 2 and up. It was very cute and funny for kids of all ages, in my opinion.

Has anyone seen Bolt? We are thinking about taking J to see it and wanted to know if anyone here has taken their child and what you thought.

We saw Bolt this weekend, and we all really liked it. We did the 3D since it was at the closest theater to our house, but G hated the glasses and they were definitely a distraction. We kind of figured, since he doesn't like sunglasses either! Mc loved the 3D though.

I really liked the Horton movie too and Ratatouille. Jana, I think that is so cute that your son is cooking away now and reciting the lines!!! Too sweet!

Cars is a great kid friendly action packed movie. Plus most kids like to see cars go fast and zoom around.
