When I was 18 I had a similar experience. I was seeing a OB (who is no longer allowed to practice medicine in the US ) I was on birthcontrol to control my cyst problems and I just started bleeding. I was bleeding really heavy and passing clots. I called her as soon as it started because it started mid cycle. She made me bleed for over two weeks before she even was willing to see me. By that time I was so anemic I could barely function. She proceeds to tell me that it could be a miscarriage but they couldn't put it in my records as such due to the fact that they didn't get me tested to see if I was pregnant or not. Then she just put me on iron to help with me being anemic and sent me home to let the birth control "wash the egg out" After a month of bleeding I went to our local hospital where they put me back on birth control to stop the bleeding. After I stopped bleeding I refused to ever take birth control again. I can't stand the idea that if I do concieve that the pill would wash the baby out of me. It tore me up that I probably lost a baby and if I would have been older and wiser I would have gone and gotten a second oppinion.

Shan, sounds like you had a horrible experience! I've got an appt after the first of the year and am going to bitch to the doc about her. I just couldn't believe it. Who says or does that kind of thing? Oh.. And now I know I was pregnant. My breasts started leaking.. I'm sorry but lactation kind of seals the deal for me.
