I've heard of this, too. I always thought it would be fun because I love salsa/Latin music. Thanks for the link, Megan. I watched the whole thing. It is 3 dances. The choreography of the last one is based on the words of the song.
It does look fun, but I don't know if my body would do all of those moves! I don't think my hips can do that! LOL It makes me miss salsa dancing. ![]() |

OMG....
On Tuesday, I was about to leave my zumba class when the instructor (Kelly) comes up to me and says, "Can I ask you a quick question?" She told me she and the other instructor have been watching me, and then she said that she (K) is opening up her own gym this fall b/c she loathes working for the Y, and she would really like for me to be a zumba instructor. WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I about peed my pants; I had no clue anyone was paying attention to me while I salsa and hip hopped my way through the class. I was kind of embarrassed, really, but I was also kind of excited. She asked me if I had any background in dance, and I said, "Just cheerleading and coaching". She said that was enough, and she asked if I was interested. What should I say!?? I am actually really interested... I mean, instead of ME paying to workout at the Y, someone else would be paying me to work out! Plus, I miss the teaching aspect of life, and this would give me some adult time. But, I told her my two biggest worries are: 1.) I already gave up my job b/c I don't want to take time away from Cale -- How much of a commitment would this be? Her answer..."Whatever you want for it to be; you can teach 1 night a week or 5 nights a week. You can do a morning class and bring Cale to the daycare in our building to play while you are teaching for an hour, or you can wait until your DH is home, and teach an evening class... up to you." So, that is good... My question #2 was: I'm going to be trying to get pregnant in the next six months or so... how will that affect this??? Her answer..."There are pregnant women in the morning class I teach right now... it is no problem. You can modify the intensity as needed, and you can take as much time as you would like before coming back to teach again." Hmmm. So.... I need some help! I'm going back tonight, and I'm sure i'll see her again (obviously, b/c she instructing tonight). What would you do if you were me? I have told you I love this class sooooooooooo much. I'm not sure how great I'd be as an instructor, but I would like to try, I think. Not 100% sure, but I think I'm about 95% sure?? Thoughts!??!? |

That sounds like a lot of fun. Since you can totally modify it to fit what you're wanting, I'd do it! Even if you start out teaching 1-2 classes a week, it would be a lot of fun. And like you said... pay to take classes or be paid to teach them?
![]() If you're concerned about doing it during pregnancy, just mention it to your OB when you go in the first time. I'm sure it will be perfectly fine to keep it up through at least the 2nd trimester if you're feeling up to it! |

Do it, Mama! You can quit anytime if you feel it is too much for you. In the meantime you get to workout for free and can have their daycare watch C for free. My aerobics teacher in high school was pregnant. She could instruct us on how to do things but didn't do it [i]with[i] the whole time. You can just do it when you change what step you are doing. And I bet you miss coaching/teaching just a bit. It might be fun to get back into it a little bit. I bet you'd be a great instructor!
(Finally started working out again after giving birth--got sick of the rolls--and this looks like fun. I'm going to see if I can find a DVD!) |

Go for it!! For all of the reason you listed! You might even be able to do a special Zumba for Pregnant women class once you get pg.
You would get to do something you love, get paid for it, get some of that teaching/coaching atmosphere in there, set your schedule. And, if Cale was at their daycare, you would only be away from him for a hour. What does W think? |
