Default hospital bag?

Just curious when everyone decided to pack their hospital bag? I think last time I did around 37 weeks b/c my OB told me to. I don't see the rush this time - it's not like I really needed that much stuff and someone (mom, dad, DH) can always get whatever I need and bring it to me at the hospital. How about you? Did you drive around with yours for weeks or wait until the last minute?

I packed my bag when I started having contractions at 37ish weeks. I put it in the car every week when I was going to my appointment, and I took it back out every week after the appointment (). I kept it sitting in G's room by the door the rest of the time, and put it in the car for the last time the night before the induction.

I think I was around 32 weeks, my OB told me to be ready since we knew preterm labor was almost a given.

With Noah I packed it after my 35 week appt. when they told me I was dilating. Good thing I did because he came just a few days later.
With C, I packed it the day before I had her because I started having major contractions.

OMG Sara, I way way way overpacked too. I never even took off my hospital gown, and I brought like 23 pairs of pajamas and cute things to wear. My body was so incredibly sore that I could not even fathom putting on pants right then. I suddenly did not give a rip if I had on a gown or pants as long as I was comfortable. I am praying that next time around I won't have the recovery that I had with C. And... I agree that I will only be taking a few things next time around --not the motherload that I brought the first time.

ETA: oops, I didn't even answer the question. I think I had it packed for about a week when I went to the hospital, so that means I was around 38 weeks. I started having contractions regularly, although they were not painful, and I thought I could feel something happening down below, so I took that as a cue and started packing. Must have been true since I was 6cm when I arrived... that still floors me b/c I was not in pain whatsoever.

with N, I packed it pretty early (like 37 weeks??) and kept it in the nursery. With E, I had a list of things I wanted to bring and the suitcase out... I can't remember but I think I just packed a few days before my induction.

ETA: the first time I did totally over-pack -- I guess that's just what we do!! The 2nd time I had the right amount of stuff. And I did end up putting on my own comfy jammies and robe the day after Ella was born.

34 weeks because B was early and I didn't want to be caught off guard again. Pack some food.
