Default The Struggle Of Kaitlyn Shes Finally Here!!!!

Gosh seem's such a short time ago that i was posting on here with concerns throughout the pregnancy i got to the stage i didn't think anything would happen or the fact she would arrive it seemed like such a endless struggle in bringing her into the world with infection on top of infection and the lack of support from the midwifes was a huge problem i do not think i would have coped as well as i did if it wasnt for you guys and this forum you kept me sane throughout the whole thing and all the advice really did keep me calm.

but as with many things one term must end for another to begin and i thought to myself she will arive the night i am induced well boy wasnt that a huge dissapointment and shock at how she did arrive.

I was booked in for the inducing on thursday 7th june and i arrived with good time got settled and in the evening they induced me nothing was happening and i was told i wasnt dilated at all which did shock me a little bit as i thought i would be. I settled for the night and rested ready for the second dose in the morning but due to them being short staffed they didnt do it and left it for 24 hours i was given a birthing ball and told to walk a lot and so forth bring on natural labour and when i was examined after 24 hours still i was not dilated and by this stage i remember saying to my mum "whats wrong with me why can i not dilate?" it was concerning me as i felt strange that nothing was happening.

I was placed on the monitor to monitor me and baby and i told my fiancee not to bother coming up on the saterday unless something happened as it did not look like i was going to be induced then either, anyway in the evening on the 8th her heart rate base line was 175 and they said it was no concern due to the fact she was moving a lot and that i would be checked throughout the night, i was not but anyway.

the morning i woke up and felt rested and again the monitor went on and the baseline was still 175 but the movements were limited i was not getting as many movements as before and it concerned them so they called a doctor who arrived in two minutes and he requested a second monitor a hour later i got the gut feeling something was not right and called my fiancee and mother and they rushed up to the ward and arrived to me being on the second monitor.

her heart rate was still 175 and then suddenly it dropped down to 88 they assumed it was my heart until two midwifes witnessed it and realised it was her and not me, the doctor rushed me to be monitored over at delivery suite and my mum and fiancee came with me but i think from all the excitement before i went into labour and boy those pains shocked me i didnt think they would be so strong. they checked me and i wasnt dilated at all even though i was getting the pains and was on gas and air crying my eyes out i have so much respect for my mum and other women who have given labour naturally now because that pain shocked me so much.

anyway the heart rate kept decreasing and i was not coping either at that stage and the next thing i knew doctors and nurses were all around me, my fiancee was in surgical clothes and i was signing for a emergency c section i was not told why but by that stage i wanted her out i was getting distressed and i couldnt understand why nothing had happened even though i was in labour and baby was distressed not a good combination i was given a spinal tap is it which worked wonders but asking someone to sit very still through a contraction whilst you put something in there back is not wise my fiancee kept his hands on my shoulder calming me down i couldnt have done it without him.

everything went numb and the c section started it was weird being awake but not feeling anything i remember asking if they had cut in becasue i could not tell i could not feel pulling or anything it was weird. my blood pressure dropped dangourously low and i felt like my head was splitting but they caught it and gave me something for it which was brilliant.

i went in for the operation 4pm by 4:`10pm the spinal tap took effect and by 4:13pm she was born and being checked over before being passed to my fiancee i ended up crying lol more with relief i think she was ok and the love that came across me was shocking it was so strong. i felt so proud looking at my fiancee holding her.

she had messed inside apparently and drank some of it and fluid which was normal they said and the cord was around her neck so no wonder nothing happened she couldnt come down safely she had problems breathing but that was sorted fast and got 9 out of 10 on the check they do which apparently is a brilliant score.

as for me i am home and resting sore as anything and limited to what i can do which is upsetting. but she is such a contented baby she sleeps from 11pm to 5/6am and then drops off for long periods of time in the day as well she is so well behaved we feed her and she sleeps then for 6 hours. my mum is down and is amazed at how well she is. all the stress and illnesses didnt do her any harm or cause her to be a distressed baby anymore so than the c section anyway.

she wa sborn 9th june the day my nan actually was buried which i didnt know til after kinda makes me feel my nan was there silly i know but she is named after my nan so was a nice touch

she is reasus d positive so i had to have the injection as i am negative kinda sucked but nice to know it is all done now and the whole experience hasnt made me not want a little brother or sister for her but of course not for another 5 years lol

any adivice for a women who had a c section i clean it twice a day and air it and so forth but other than that?

anyway finally she is here and here is two pics

Congratulations! I am so glad you made it through the whole thing and that she was alright! (I don't know why they were worried about a big baby. 8lbs is not small, but it's not huge either). I hope you have a quick recovery!

COngrats, she's gorgeous!!

I had a c-section too, emergency as well. My biggest reccomendations....
-blow dry the incision dry after showers
-don't do too much.. I actually opened my incision up on one end because I felt up to doing some house work a few times. Literally, be a slug!
-take your pain meds... I tried to be a trooper and not do it.. big mistake, I wound up supremely sore
-if it starts to smell or ooze funny, go to the doc, you're infected.
-have your fiance help you with cleaning... that helped wonders forme, when DH would clean it!
