Well as some may know last Tuesday I went in to have my wisdom teeth cut out. I was told that I may have problems eating for a few days and some slight pain. Tylenol would take care of any of my pain. Yeah right. I absolutely think that the dentist office is a form of torture any ways, but this is the extreme. I went in for my surgery at 10 am. I get in there they ask me all kinds of questions "Did you eat after midnight?, Are you wearing contacts?, etc.." Then the start hooking me up to the monitors. I have a blood pressure cuff on one arm and they stuck a oxygen monitor on the finger of my other hand. Then they are asking me to make a fist with that hand. She kept walking away. So I would loosen my fist. It is really hard to keep a tight fist with one finger missing from the equation. So then when she comes back she I got a lecture about having to keep my fist tight and every time I loosen my fist I am moving my veins. The whole time I am thinking well if you would hurry up and do your thing we wouldn't have this problem. Finally she gets done with my hand and the doctor comes in. He gave me the general anesthesia and says "In a few seconds you wills start to feel funny." Yeah that is the last thing I remember. Next thing I know I am being woke up and told the my husband is bringing the truck around. It feels as though everything in my mouth is swollen. Of course there is enough numbness to keep all the pain away. But every time I close my mouth I bite my cheek.

So my hubby takes me home. I lay down on the couch and prepare to get better. Fast forward three days. Friday morning I woke up with pain shooting from my tooth socket all the way to me ears. I haven't been in so much pain before. I would gladly go through birth again instead. I can't eat, my stomach is upset from trying one of the Lortab's they gave me. Plus after a couple of hours I get a migraine. Yay!! That is so fun! So I called the doctor they told me I have dry socket. How did I do that? I followed all their directions to the T! So I go in and the doctor viciously jabs medicated gauze into my sockets. I do mean viciously. I have never had a doctor who has ever had a worse bedside manner. I won't be going back to him after this is said and done. (My dh has to get a different oral surgeon too) Of course I am still biting my cheek if I close my mouth all the way. So while blissfully out of pain on Darvocet (which they gave me 10 because the Lortab wasn't helping and it was making me sick) I decided to check out my cheek with my tongue. The dentist sewed my cheek to my gum.

You have to freaking be kidding me here. But no no it is true and it is the only stitch that hasn't dissolved. Well by Saturday my left side is burning and throbbing again. Oh, what fun this is. I called the office and they have another number for patients with problems to call. I called that number and left my name and number. Two hours later I was calling again with my name, number, and my problem. Well six hours later my dh took me to the emergency room. I got a really nice ER doctor and he was very sympathetic to me because he had dry socket before. He told me that I could take two Darvocets at once. So I told him I would do that but I only had a prescription for 10 and only had two left. So he wrote me a prescription for more (man I really like that doctor!!) and he started checking me out. Well my left side is all bruised and swollen and I can't open my mouth very far at all. So for him to see he has to pry open my mouth (OMG that is so painful) So he asked if I wanted to be numbed. PLEASE!! So off he goes to get me some Novacaine!!

Only problem is he needs my mouth open wider.

I asked him about my cheek being stitched to my gums and he looked around in my mouth for quite a while trying to figure out what was going on with that. It had him confused. Then he gave me my shot and sent me on my merry numb way. Then when I wake up on Sunday morning I have a message from my dentist. He says that if I want my dressings changed he will be in the office around 10:30 am. So I go up there and get my dressings changed. He laughed at me for going to the emergency room. Saying how expensive that was and blah, blah, blah.

Well I guess he hasn't ever been through a painful dental experience. It is horrible. I have to go back today to get my dressings changed once again. I am going to ask him about my cheek being stitched to my gum, because I think that is why I can't open my mouth very well. I don't know. I am still in a lot of pain and I really would hate for any one to have to deal with this kind of stuff. I look like I have been kicked in the face and I can't even open my mouth to get a bite off a hot dog or cheese burger. When I open my mouth I get a tugging/painful feeling in my cheek gum area where he stitched them together. If I can't open my mouth how am I suppose to get my teeth cleaned and stuff? I am so confused and tired of being in pain. I just wanted to vent and get all this off my chest. Thank you for reading my book.
