Oh Shan, you're scaring me b/c I have to have this done soon. However, I only have to have the top ones out b/c the bottoms were taken out when I was little (when they were only 'buds'). My dentist told me the tops would not give me the slightest trouble -- the bottoms are the ones that always give people troubles. Have you found that to be true? Did you have all four out?

I'm hoping you'll be feeling better soon. That is ridiculous that the guy is treating you that way. Find a new dentist for sure!!!

It is good to hear that you have an appointment with your regular doctor in a week.

Have you tried calling your regular dentist and explaining to him what you have been through to see if you can get in there sooner? You did mention that the stitch hadn't dissolved yet, so that is why I am suggesting trying to get in there sooner if it is possible.

Sorry for scaring you Megan, it is only my bottom that are giving me problems. Or I should say it wouldn't be a problem if my surgeon would get his head out of his @ss!
Thanks I don't want to schedule my appointment any closer because I still have this massive bruise. Anytime anyone touches my face it kills me. For the dentist to see the part of my mouth where he stitched my cheek to my gum they have to pry open my mouth. It is really painful.

Shan, I'm so sorry you had to go through all that! It sounds so miserable! It makes me glad I had mine taken out right out of high school. My parents had us all do it then while we were still on their insurance and before the wisdom teeth can cause any problems. I had three and one gave me a lot of trouble because the dentist really had to dig it out, but not as much trouble as yours! I sure hope it feels better soon!

I'm one of those fortunate people who don't have wisdom teeth. I remember when dh had his removed...that was no fun but nothing like what you're going through.

From what I understand it's just another part of evolution. We don't need them anymore, therefore some people don't get them.

Thanks everyone!! I am starting to feel better. I am still having a lot of pain in my jaws. It don't start till after lunch and it gets worse as the night goes on. Yesterday I was able to get through the day without pain killers (barely), so that was good. My sister didn't have wisdom teeth either. I think people who don't have them are really really lucky!

Well I had my last appointment Thursday. I now have a syringe to flush my sockets. Yeah that is fun. This morning I woke up and found the stitch holding my cheek and gum together finally dissolved. I hope that soon I will be able to open my mouth all the way again.
