Default 1 hour glucose test

I have my 1 hour glucose test on Tuesday. Just wondering if your doctors told you to fast first or avoid any foods the night before and morning of? My appt is at 9:30 a.m. so I'm just wondering what would be a good thing to eat that wouldn't affect my results. My doc said I could eat, just stay away from anything too sugary.

My OB said to eat regularly but to avoid obvious things that could cause my blood sugar to be high (sodas, juice, etc...). I think the only time you'd have to fast is if you were having the 3hr test.

With B I couldn't eat at all and had to do it at 7:30am. With A they told me to eat 1 hour before (nothing too sugary) and then eat like normal after. Maybe you could have some eggs and toast or something, that's not too sugary.

Well they just rescheduled my appointment for 11 so there is no way I could not eat. I'll be eating breakfast for sure, but I'll try to eat a low-sugar one....which I pretty much do anyway. Thanks.

I was told to stay away from sugary stuff too. I think I just ended up eating some eggs. Good luck!

LOL! I totally no-carbed it this morning and it turns out that they want me to take it at my next appointment. Oh well. So, I came home and had a bagel with cream cheese, fruit salad, and a glass of OJ. LOL

CSara,

With a family history of diabetes, I was terrified about the results of that test. Just be aware that even if you get a postive result on that test when you take it, it could be a false positive. I had a positive but, to be sure, I had to take the 3 hour test (which thank goodness showed the original was a false positive because it came out negative - I was so relieved). I was so nervous waiting for the results. With the 3 hour one I remember I couldn't eat after midnight when I was having the test at 8 AM, don't recall the 1 hour one though.

Good Luck!
