HowTo Enjoy Some Quiet Time At Home On A Sunday

Half the time I’m complaining that I never get any peace and quiet at home. If I don’t have a four year old asking me to play zoo or cars or get him something to eat, I have an 11 month old tugging at my pants, slapping my chest, slobbering on my face or whining about whatever.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my kids. I love my kids more than the amount of stars in the sky or grains of sand on the beach. I love them to infinity and beyond. However, I also love quiet time.

This morning, I think my husband and I figured out the secret. You have to take your kids to Waffle House. Seriously, neither of us have ever seen our kids eat like this. The big one was double fisting bacon into his mouth and dipping every last inch of his gigantic syrup-laden waffle into runny egg yolk.  The baby was grabbing at everything in sight….cheesey eggs, toast, waffle, grits, yogurt. It was insane.

Our oldest son couldn’t even make it home awake. He was sleeping before we hit the driveway. We just put the little one into his crib as soon as we got home. They are both sleeping peacefully, bellies full enough to sustain them for days. Ahhh, the quiet. It’s beautiful.

Thanks, Waffle House. Your food was delicious and you knocked my kids out. Sweet.
