Woman With Half An Ovary Gives Birth

Talk about against all odds!

Trudi Siviter, who was left with just part of her left ovary after suffering cancer of the cervix as a teen, was told she would never have children. She had two ectopic pregnancies as an adult and three failed attempts at in-vitro fertilization.

Doctors said what was left of her ovary was not functioning properly and believed her womb was not strong enough to carry a child. But three months before having a complete hysterectomy, the 39-year-old discovered she was pregnant.

She gave birth naturally to a son at Staffordshire General Hospital in the United Kingdom last month. Alfie was born eight months into the pregnancy and weighed just 3 pounds, 8 ounces, but doctors say he is healthy.

Read full story and see a picture of Alfie.

I couldn't either. Just click back on the Women and Health part at the top of the page and it will bring a page where you can get the story easily.
  4. sorry about that...don't know what happened with the link, but I think I fixed it.
  5. That is just amazing. She was definitely meant to have that little guy in her life.
  6. This is so similar to our family's own little miracle story! My mom had ovarian cancer as a late teen and was left with 1/3 of 1 ovary. It took her a total of 6 years to ttc but had all 3 of us on 1/3 of 1 ovary. It took her 3 years of ttc for each of my sisters and then I was an accident. She was bleeding and thought it was her period, but turns out it was her vascular tumor bleeding and that was when I was conceived. I never realized what a miracle that was until the last few years when I was thinking of starting my own family. I'm forwarding the link to her right now, I'm sure she'll enjoy reading about someone else like her!
  7. Wow Jessica! That is truly amazing.
  8. That is amazing Jessica!
  9. both of those stories are truly amazing! it just goes to show that when you are meant to be something, it will happen one way or the other

  10. Too funny I emailed my mom the link and her response was "I had one third of an ovary, but I did have both falopian tubes" lol ... I suppose 30+ years later it doesn't seem as miraculous lol. She's a nut!
