Video Monitor Rave

I’ve been saying I wanted a video monitor for this baby since before I was pregnant. I wish I would have had one for Jax. We recently got the Summer Infant LCD Video Monitor and I love it!!!
Summer Infant LCD Video MonitorI don’t know if it’s just having a video monitor or this particular one, but I’m very happy. The screen is huge and very clear. The reception is great unless you have it positioned next to your cordless phone and sometimes the laptop computer. I have had it on my night stand for the past week. It was literally in my face so my husband made me move it tonight in hopes of sleeping a little sounder. The night vision is awesome. I just realized we haven’t even checked out the daytime clarity yet, but I’m sure it is good. I can update tomorrow after I check it out. I keep the sound off until I go to bed. There are lights on top of the screen that turn red if the sound escalates so I know if he’s crying/fussing without actually hearing it. Then, I put the volume on one of the lower settings (there are several options) and leave my bedroom door open. There is also a separate hand-held sound device that you can carry with you just for the noise monitoring aspect. I haven’t had to use it yet, but I imagine when Jett is older and we are hanging out downstairs while he’s sleeping that it will get plenty of use.

I find myself staring at my little guy constantly, without having to get out of bed, go in his room and chance waking/bothering him. It’s better for both of us. I love, love, love having a video monitor and highly recommend it! Yes, it’s costly, but so worth it…..especially when you don’t have to pay for it because it was a gift.  ;)

  1. I can see a lot of good things in it. Sometimes I just like to watch what my little ones are doing, it would be nice to see what they do while I'm not there. I don't have a video monitor though. I actually don't use my audio monitors either. I found that I was too quick to respond to my kids and was shortening their naps because of it. I've learned that if I can't hear them from the kitchen, they don't need me. But my house isn't well-insulated so you can hear pretty well from room to room. It would be useful for when I need to go outside though.
  2. We used our audio monitors a lot when we went outside and left Jax inside sleeping when he was a baby.
  3. Oh boy, my video monitor is probably THE most used baby item I own. I could not live without it for my next baby! I still use it every night. You know how much I love mine, so I'll spare you the details again. LOL! I still use it every day and night. He's on our TV in our bedroom all night as he sleeps, even though he hasn't woken up in the middle of the night since he was literally a few months old (except twice when sick around 12 and 15 months old -- and I was really glad to have the monitor on during both episodes). Definitely a hit at our house... and my best friend followed suit after she saw mine and adores hers too.
  4. Yay for video monitors!
