Things To Avoid During Pregnancy That You Do Anyway

Last night I had a girl’s night out. It was one of my best friend’s birthday and a group of us went out for Asian cuisine. Looking at the menu ahead of time, I was not too happy because I am still so turned off by most food. Normally I love Thai food or sushi but we all know that sushi is a no-no during pregnancy. Well, I decided to go for the cooked sushi even though you really aren’t supposed to do that either since you know, it can come in contact with the raw stuff. Whatever. It was so good and I ate the most I have eaten in months! Another preggo friend and I shared 4 rolls and the waitress made a mistake so she brought out a 5th for us. Um, there was one tiny piece left. That is A LOT of food. Plus there were a gazillion appetizers and ice cream cake for dessert. Surprisingly I felt ok. I wasn’t even really that nauseas or stuffed. I think I may have hit another milestone.

I also had a manicure and pedicure yesterday. Aren’t you supposed to avoid nail salons too? Hmm. So what type of things did you do that you weren’t supposed to during pregnancy?

Comments:

  1. Cookie dough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I am currently under doctor's orders not to go grocery shopping or anything like it, and to do as little as possible around the house to avoid another preterm baby. But you know that old saying, "If you want something done right you have to do it yourself"...it applies very well here.
  2. when I was on bedrest I'd get up for my twice hourly pee break that I was allowed and I'd wander aroudn for a few mintues and into the kitchen, etc.... oops... had to do soemthing plus I couldn't just starve to death!
  3. While on bedrest with my daughter, I wasn't allowed to do anything other than lay and ride in a car to the doctor. Well, one day after my blood pressure was good at my doc appt, my friend and I went to the pool. As I was laying sunning myself after some soaking in the warm pool(warm, not hot tub) who walks in? My ob/gyn and her kids. To say I was embarrassed is an understatement. When I saw her two weeks later she didn't say anything until the end of the appt. She said "remember bed rest, not pool rest"
Also, I drank caffeine. Soda and tea. It helped with my migraines.
  4. Well I am a hairstylist so I had my hair colored and permed while pregnant. I drank soda and coffee too.
  5. I've been drinking quite a bit of iced tea--it's the only beverage other than water that isn't too sweet for me to drink (seriously strange aversion to sweets). I also had a roast beef sandwich the other day--I was craving beef for lunch and Panera had taken the steak sandwich off the menu. Next week my sister (35 weeks pregnant) and I are going for pedicures. A girl just can't be good all the time!
  6. I've been drinking coffee every day now since about 15-16 weeks. I also drink diet soda once in a while. I just figure in moderation these things are fine.
