Pregnancy 11 weeks

Yesterday I woke up feeling really good. We had planned to go out to breakfast and food shopping, but my husband was really tired and by the time we got out of the house it was already noon. I still wanted my breakfast food so we went to a diner. I scarfed down eggs and hash browns like I hadn’t eaten in months, which I really haven’t. I enjoyed it in the moment, but I felt horrendous after eating. I was nauseas for the rest of the day and was way too exhausted and sick-feeling to go to the grocery store. I ended up spending almost the rest of the day in bed.

We went grocery shopping in the early evening and I felt a bit better by then. I went on a walk, made a giant pasta salad for today and tomorrow and stayed up fairly late. Things seem to be on the up and up. I can see the light at the end of this nauseating tunnel.

I go in to the lab tomorrow for some blood test, but my next actual appointment is not for another 3 weeks. I’m already anticipating the big anatomy scan so I can see my baby again. I only got a real tiny peek at my 10 week appointment. It was hard to hear the heartbeat on the doppler so my OB did a quick ultrasound. The machine was all wacky and old so it was hard to see much, but I did see the heart beating and I did see baby 2 squirming around so that’s what counts.

Sometimes I wish I had one of those hand-held doppler things at home, but I feel like I’d totally abuse it and use it too often. Did any of you have one?

Comments:

  1. It took my OB so long to find the HB at 12 weeks that I was very happy to not have had one of those at home. I would have used it and then freaked out because I couldn't find the HB.
  2. I know, right. I can just imagine freaking out and spending way too much time trying to figure it out. It is probably better not to have one.......honestly what can you do if you couldn't find the hb anyway???

btw, congrats to you on baby 2!
  3. Thank you! It's fun to have a pregnancy buddy!
  4. My friend bought one but said on the box it read that it detects heartbeats in weeks 30+ or something---it was really late in the pregnancy. I don't think she ever used hers maybe once or twice. I can call her and get the info off the box if you'd like.
