Potty Training Week 2

I haven’t kept up with the daily diary of my son’s potty training progress, but I will say he is doing a tiny bit worse this week. Is that normal? I mean, he’s still in underwear all day long and even took a 3 hour nap, in underwear, and woke up dry! It’s just that he’s had a few accidents per day, basically because he doesn’t want to stop what he’s doing. He will sometimes make a teeny drop of urine in his underwear, then tell me, and then he goes the rest on the potty. I think he’s doing great, I just wonder what the regression is from? He also still has not pooped on the potty. He hasn’t gone in 3 days and has the stinkiest gas so I know it’s coming soon. He says he is going to go on the potty, but we’ll see. I hope he is ok at camp next week. It’s only for three hours a day, but I just hope he will comfortable enough to let someone help him on the potty and not have an accident every day and be stuck wearing wet pants because either no one notices or he’s too embarrassed to let someone change him. How should approach that with him? Any words of wisdom from moms who have sent their newly potty trained kids to day care, school, or camp?

  1. He will be ok and they should defiantly not let him be wet. He will have extra clothes there right? They will help him. I think he is doing great. It takes time to really get adjusted to PT. In 2 weeks he has come a long way.
  2. I'm guessing the regression is normal... and not actually *regression* at all, just him getting used to this process and trying to keep up with it. If you think about it, it's a lot of work for a little guy who is used to not even noticing letting himself go in his pants...(since that has been the norm for almost three years for him); it's kind of a lot to remember every hour or so when you might have to tinkle. I think he's doing great for someone who is so new at this job. Keep it up - - your patience seems to be helping him so much.

I would definitely talk to someone at the camp and make sure they know how new this is for Jax and what his ups and downs are. I'm sure you'll have a change of clothes handy too, so I know he'll do great. They probably expect as much from a group of little guys this age. They'll take good care of him.
  3. When rach started school she was just potty trained so regressed a little because it was something new to her. however i didn't put her back in diapers i gave the school 2-3 changes of clothes for the classroom and always had 2 changes of clothes in her bag for them to use just in case. you have to make sure to tell the teachers to take him to the bathroom even if he says he doesn't have to go because when the kids get so busy they don't want to stop what they are doing to use the bathroom. also when it came to her telling me she had to go to the bathroom it took a long time for that. she still occasionally pees a little in the underwear and the rest in the toilet. goodluck with the potty training
