Potty Training Day 2: Hello Underwear

Yesterday went great! Jax stayed in underwear until his bath, then I put him in a diaper and jammies for bedtime. This morning at 6:15 he came in my room and said “I made a poop”. So I woke up and we went into his room to change his diaper, then we went back to my room for some more shut eye. We got out of bed at about 9:15 and went on the potty. His diaper was totally dry. On went his underwear for the day. Five hours later, he is still in the same pair of underwear, totally dry!

My only concern is nap time. Am I supposed to put a pull up on him or just keep him in his underwear and see if he has an accident? I will be back later for an evening update, but I am surprised at how well this is going. I am expecting some accidents, but man, this is going so smoothly, I hope I’m not too thrown off guard when it does happen. ;)

———-End of Day Update——-

7:30 p.m. - Jax is out for the night and did not have a single accident!

  1. Wow, he really is doing great! Yay Jax!

I put a pullup on Nicole until she was consistantly waking up dry from naps - took about a month (I think???) for us to ditch the pullup during nap time. We would go potty before and after nap with (and of course without) the pullup.
  2. That is great!! Way to go J!!
  3. Hmm, well I think the napping is a non-issue today so I am not going to worry about it. I asked him what he thought and he was quite adamant about keeping his underwear on. He said he thought he could hold it in while he slept (IF he slept). So, I think we'll just try underwear next time he naps (whenever that may be) and just see what happens. Yes, I'm brave.
  4. that is great!!!! Go J!!!!
  5. He is doing soooo well, and so are you!! Great work! I'm really watching this b/c I'm not sure at all how to PT, and C will be there before we know it... I assume! I hope it keeps going so smoothly for you.

Thats what I was going to say is follow his lead. Maybe get one of those mattress covers for his mattress so if he does have an accident then its no big deal to clean up. Good Job Jax!!!
  7. Fantastic! Good idea about asking Jax how he wants to do naptimes. He may very well be able to stay dry for naps, especially if he's excited about wearing that underwear!
  8. Well, my boy is out for the night and he did not have a single accident today! Granted he didn't nap and he didn't have to go #2 so we'll see how tomorrow goes. This is a very exciting adventure for us. I can't believe I'm this pumped about potty training, but I guess it's because it has gone this smoothly so far. that it continues like this.
  9. I'm seriously impressed, C! It sounds like you're both just ready, and this is the right time . Perfect timing for baby boy #2's arrival!
  10. I was looking at your ticker and this is about the time when my boys did it too...right before their 3 rd birthday....
