Mocktails for Moms-to-Be

Yesterday I got a lovely surprise in the mail. Quirk Books sent me the new book Margarita Mama: Mocktails for Moms-to-Be! It is so cute. It’s very compact so if you wanted to carry it around in your diaper bag, you totally can. I don’t see why you’d need to, but who knows. I love making drinks and smoothies and coming up with delicious concoctions so this book is right up my alley. It’s chock full of yummy non-alcoholic drinks.

It’s broken up into three sections: Frozen Delights; On the Rocks; and Martinis & More. Most of the recipes have quirky little names. There’s “Swollen Feet Fizz” that consists of apple juice, cranberry juice and sparkling water, and “Shake Your Booties”, made of blueberries, coconut cream, and vanilla ice cream.

I have not tried anything in here yet, but remember I literally just got it in the mail last night. You bet I will be trying these out very soon! I’ll keep you posted on anything out of this world that I come across. Meanwhile, are there any “mocktails” that you personally love? Please share!

  1. I will have to look into getting my hands on one of those!

I know I am not pregnant, but I haven't had an alcoholic drink since before I was pregnant with Logan! So, I don't drink anymore really.

    Keep us updated for sure!
  2. My two favorite mocktails when I was pg were:

Peach Julius: I always add 1 Tbsp honey to mine, but it's not called for
1 cup of fresh or frozen peach juice
    2 oz milk
    1 tsp vanilla extract
    2 Tbsp sugar
1 scoop of vanilla ice cream

Vienna Soother: I add 1 Tbsp honey to this as well...
    4 oz coffee
    2 oz cream
    1/4 oz chocolate syrup
    1/4 tsp cinnamon

ETA: I put the peach julius in a martini glass, and I put a few pieces of a fresh peach in it (on a toothpick).
  3. Mmm, that peach julius sounds delicous!
  4. Sounds yummy!
  5. It's delish and kid friendly (G would very happily share one with me every day).
  6. during both of my pregnancies, dh would make me 'special drinks'. Club soda or sprite with fresh fruit juices served in a wine or martini glass.
  7. I love virgin mojitos--it's an easy drink for a bartender to convert to alcohol free--just don't add the run. Virgin margaritas are okay, but it's just not the same without the tequila. I ask whether "special" martinis are made with liqeuers or syrups--if it's syrups I'll have them add the syrup to club soda.
