Keeping Track of Baby Kicks the Easy Way
Now that I’m just about in my third trimester (27 weeks pregnant!), it’s time for me to start counting baby’s kicks. Movement is the best sign of your baby’s well being. Kick counting is a record of how often you feel your baby move and is one of the methods recommended by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists to help you check on your baby’s health.
I recently received a kickTrak in the mail to review. In a nutshell, the kickTrak is a small hand held device used to record your baby’s movements in the womb. It also tracks the progress of your pregnancy in days and weeks and counts down the last 99 days until your due date.
The good old fashioned watch, paper, and pencil or pen wasn’t going to cut it for me, so this handy device is the perfect solution. The kickTrak kick counter helps you keep a reliable record of baby’s movements. Changes in the data can help you let your doctor or midwife be aware of potential pregnancy problems and take steps to correct them. You are taking a proactive approach to protect your baby’s health, which is what mothers naturally do. Baby Kick’s website further explains why kick counting is so important.
If you are intimidated by learning how to use yet another gadget, don’t be. KickTrack is extremely easy to use. You input the week and day of your pregnancy, choose English or Spanish, and the device is set. From there, you simply press the button every time you feel your baby move and after 10 movements, the kickTrak stores the length of time it took to reach those 10 movements (and a little tune is played for you!). It will store up to 10 sessions so that you can compare them, taking note of any serious changes in the baby’s movements.
The kickTrak is sold here for $39.95 but they are offering a special promotion for Baby Talkers readers. All you have to do is enter promotional code BT08 at check out for 15% off product purchase.
If you do end up buying this product, please know that a portion of your money is donated to First Candle/SIDS Alliance and the Babykick Foundation. Both are nonprofit organizations dedicated to reducing stillbirth and to continue the fight against infant mortality. You can read more about that here.
I feel really good about promoting this item! Not only is it really convenient (and cute!), but I love the fact that by purchasing it, you become part of a team that helps women worldwide learn how to have healthier pregnancies. I encourage all moms-to-be to have a kickTrak device, so even if you aren’t expecting yourself, it would make a great gift for those pregnant friends and family members of yours.

I so needed that with G! I was terrible about timing kicks with him.

I didn't have a problem tracking K's kicking. I think the longest amount of time it took to get to ten kicks was three minutes. I will look into one when I get pregnant again though. I probably won't get as lucky the next time for my kick counting.
