Last weekend, Jax turned three! He was soooo excited for his birthday. We had a couple of friends over and went swimming, played some games, had pizza and ice cream cake. He thought it was a big party (it so wasn’t) and had tons of fun. That’s all that matters, right?!?
I hardly got any pictures, but here he is playing with his water table outside. We got so lucky with the weather. It was supposed to rain, but it didn’t.
I’ve noticed a big change in him lately. Jax seriously has almost as many typical 4 and 5 year old behaviors as 3 year old ones. He just loves being a “big boy”. He loves his new room and his new bed. There previously was a full size mattress on the floor in his room, but we actually got him a bed to put the mattress on now. Since he started camp, he’s been napping so much better. He’s sleeping really well at night too, minus the occasional wake up to go potty. Speaking of which, he is doing GREAT! He rarely has any accidents and regularly goes #2 on the toilet now, which was a big issue for us. He is still wearing pull-ups for naps and bedtime, which I anticipate he’ll be wearing for a while.
He has gotten so tall and thin. He is off the charts for height and pretty close to for weight and is an extremely picky eater. He’ll eat almost any kind of protein – seafood, chicken, turkey, steak, eggs, cheese, peanut butter, although he’s gotten picky about beans even, but otherwise, he only wants snacks and dessert. He will eat fruit, but zilch on the veggies. Anything new I try to introduce or suggest to him, he declines. It is frustrating, but I know it could be worse. He is a healthy boy so I’m not really that worried about it.
Generally, he is a wonderful kid and I am so happy and proud of him. We just watched some videos last night of his first few days and I can’t even get over how much he’s grown……..never mind the fact that I’m going to have a new one so soon!!!! I am so dead tired these days that I can’t even imagine how tired I will be then.
