Insomnia, Vomit and Constant Urination

Sounds like a party, right? Fortunately my one and only barfarama was yesterday morning, the day I hit 12 weeks pregnant. The funny thing is that I felt totally fine and didn’t see it coming at all. I just got blasted by a really nasty smell (old diapers sitting in the garbage can - ugh!!) and out it came. Otherwise, the nausea is totally getting better. It’s still here now and then, but it’s loads better than the 24/7 crap I had to deal with from weeks 6 through 11.

My main problem now is sleep. I am soooo tired and sleep deprived. I wake up 10 gazillion times a night to pee. Last night (ok, this morning) I woke up at 4:30 a.m and could not go back to sleep for hours. I stared at the ceiling, I went on the computer, I went downstairs to eat a bowl of cereal, and then I finally went back to staring at the ceiling which eventually put me to sleep.

According to popular belief, I’m not quite yet in the second trimester. Some say when you hit 12 weeks, some say when you are 13 and some say 14. I’ll compromise and say that next week when I am 13 weeks, I will welcome myself to the 2nd trimester. That being said…….when does that second trimester “energy burst” happen? Did you have it? I honestly don’t remember it happening to me with my first pregnancy. Hopefully this time I will get luckier.

Comments:

  1. That 2nd trimester energy burst was MIA for me. I felt pretty good from ~12-22 weeks, but I didn't have much energy. I had crazy insomnia, and I wasn't getting into bed until after midnight every night (which landed me in bed for a nap the next day). Hopefully you'll at least feel more normal soon .
  2. I started feeling more energetic around week 18. Of course it wasn't an energy burst. I still felt like I could spend the whole day in bed. Then around week 28 I got the exhaustion again. So it was very short lived. I know that some women just wake up one day and have bunches of energy but I wasn't one of those women.
  3. I'm sorry you have been feeling so awful! I hope you can get some sleep soon!

I hate to say it, but my 2nd tri energy burst didn't come with B until about 16 weeks. With this pregnancy, it never came. I hope yours is different!

Just had to tell you that my ONE and ONLY vomit session during my pregnancy was exactly like that!! I was not sick at all, and I was like 18 weeks along and had never thrown up... but I was in the kitchen, about to take out the trash, and I got a whiff of it, and BLAH..... out came my breakfast all over the kitchen floor. I was so shocked that I had to call my DH and report the news, and text my best friend! HA! I couldn't believe my nose was that sensitive, but oh boy, it totally was... I felt like I had 9 noses while pregnant. Glad that is gone now!
  5. I started to feel better both pregnancies right around 10 weeks. Kinda like the fog lifted. I do recall more energy the second time around, but not when it happened.

For the peeing I'd suggest making sure you drink a lot of water between breakfast and lunch. Then you spend the afternoon peeing, but you're hydrated enough that you won't be loading on water in the second half of the day (and then consequently peeing all night long).
  6. The "burst of energy" was a myth for me. I was tired all the time with both pregnancies, although it was worse the second time because I couldn't take naps.

B would say that about me 100% of the time! I have a very sensitive sense of smell.
