For the past few nights, I am pretty sure that I have felt teeny tiny little baby movements. I wouldn’t exactly call them kicks, but there is some tapping, movement, swimming, flipping, fluttering….whatever you want to call it…..going on in there. It is so light and only happens late at night when I’m laying in bed to go to sleep, but being a been there, done that mommy, I know what I’m feeling and I love it! I cannot wait until the movement becomes consistent and easily recognizable. That was my favorite part about being pregnant with my son, Jax.
I started feeling flutters with him around 17 weeks, but the real noticeable movements probably weren’t until about 20 weeks. First time mommies usually feel movement somewhere between 16 to 22 weeks, although I’ve heard as early as 13 or 14 weeks is possible. I am 15 weeks now and they do say it happens earlier with subsequent pregnancies.
Often times, I think pregnant women, usually first-time mommies, confuse movements with gas or muscle twitches/spasms. It is definitely hard to distinguish at first. The beginning fetal movements are usually described as feeling like little butterflies in your stomach, like popcorn popping, or a tiny fish flopping around in there. How would you describe what those first baby kicks feel like?
