Mocktails for Moms-to-Be

Yesterday I got a lovely surprise in the mail. Quirk Books sent me the new book Margarita Mama: Mocktails for Moms-to-Be! It is so cute. It’s very compact so if you wanted to carry it around in your diaper bag, you totally can. I don’t see why you’d need to, but who knows. I love making drinks and smoothies and coming up with delicious concoctions so this book is right up my alley. It’s...

Belly Dancing

Thought I would share some pictures of my son and I dancing. As you can see, he looooooves my belly! This was about a week ago so I am somewhere between 20 and 21 weeks pregnant in these pictures. BTW, this was like first thing in the morning before I ate breakfast or anything. By the end of the day, my belly is way bigger!

It’s A …………

Today I had my big level II ultrasound. My husband and son came with me and it was very exciting. The baby looks great and everything seems to be going perfectly. On the way there, my son was saying he wanted a baby brother and I said, “well, that is what we are going to find out today”. We tried pointing out the baby on the ultrasound to him, but he didn’t “see” a baby. I don’t...

The Miracle Blanket

My son, Jax, has never been a wonderful sleeper. For most of his first year, he ate every 2-3 hours around the clock. This meant very little sleep for both of us. Naps were a joke. Ten minute power naps here or there. It was tough. I have many friends with great sleepers and they swear by the Miracle Blanket. Apparently a regular blanket is just not quite the same for swaddling. We did try to swaddle Jax, but...

Pregnancy Workouts

Exercise is important. That’s a no brainer. During pregnancy, exercise not only keeps your body toned and healthy, but will also increase blood flow, help fight fatigue and prepare your body for the exertion of delivery. I did not exercise regularly during my last pregnancy, although I did make a point to go on a walk as frequently as I could when it wasn’t too hot out. Now I’m almost mid-way...

Maternity Shopping

I went on my first real maternity shopping spree today!! They combined the MimiMaternity and Motherhood Maternity at one of the malls near me and I spent two hours there with my mom! It was fun and a little frustrating. I am so much bigger at this point in my pregnancy than I was last time. I also have to say that maternity clothes are just not that cute. I did manage to get a bunch of things though. I got the...

Pregnancy Cravings and Aversions

Pregnancy is a funny thing. It can make you disgusted by things you used to love and it can make you drool over things you previously hated. Fortunately, from my experience, the aversions usually aren’t so bad after the first trimester. In my first pregnancy, I was turned off by chicken, turkey, and fish. In the second trimester, I got a craving for red meat, which I had never in my life eaten. I gave...
