Who is this monster in my house?

And where did he come from?

We seem to be hitting those “terrible twos” hardcore. Sorry, I am not one of those people who is going to sugar coat it and call it the “terrific twos” because that it ain’t. For those of you who never experienced this with your kids, I envy you. For those of you who have yet to experience it with your kids, I fear for your life. Since I know you are all loving and wonderful mothers and would never harm your children, I am warning you it takes a lot of patience and will power to keep from inflicting personal injury upon yourself just to make the pain of it all go away.

I’m lucky I’ve got my husband to remind me that “it’s only going to get worse” and that I’d “better figure out a way to control our child”. Oh goody!!!

And then……after about 3 excruciating minutes of horror, my precious, adorable, sweet and funny little toddler returns. God, I love him! It is so nice to have him back. :)

  1. LOLLOLOLOLOLOL! I only laugh because I totally hear what you're saying. I just spent the last 20 minutes cleaning laundry detergent out of my dryer. I guess I'm not allowed to go pee.
  2. My 3 1/2 year old is STILL going through the terrible two's! YIKES!!! There are days where I just want to run for the hills. There are times though where he is just the sweetest, most caring little guy.
  3. I feel your pain with my almost 17 month old. We fear daily what is yet to be in store for us. Recently her terribleness was made WAY worse with a pesky ear infection, which took us way too long to determine that was it. Even well, it is amazing how she can go from zero to wreck in less than a nanosecond. People are always asking me when #2 will be and I just laugh.
  4. I swear my almost 13 month old can't get any worse!!! Some days he's perfect, others he's a total horror. My fully adjusted child has suddenly started clinging to daddy's legs when he goes to school in the morning. We had him broke of hitting and biting (so we thought) and now it is back with a vengence. He has hit all of his milestones early and I swear he is using it against us. He now knows how to climb on a chair to get what he wants. Previously he'd simply stand on a toy, etc. He wiggles until he gets on whatever it is and then goes for what he wants. My kitchen table is now bare due to this very reason! He is currently trying to figure out how to open the fridge.. why you may ask? Because his favorite thing to do is empty the contents of the door and then rummage through anything on the shelves or in the drawers. I made the mistake at laughing at him doing it once. Now he is incorrigable!!! He has figured out how to throw a tantrum (as in throw himself down and kick, etc) luckily we have figured out his hints and can sidestep most of that. I remember terrible 2s and 3s with my nephews... but I don't rememebr it starting this early! Also, part of the problem is he gets obsessed with whatever his newest "trick" is, until he gets it right. He gets so frustrated and vents it out on us, his toys, the furniture... ARGH!

I'm so sorry, but this is hilarious. That pesonal injury you mentioned would certainly not be directed at myself were these comments coming out of my DH's mouth!!

I really feel for you on this. N went through a stage of throwing tantrums, but I think we managed to avoid the full-blown terrible-twos. Even then, it was extremely frustrating while we were in it, so I can't imagine what you're going through.

All I can say is good luck, and I hope it's short lived!
  6. Lol! Reading that made me laugh so much!

I am dreading the terrible twos but I'm hoping s will remain relatively well behaved. She has her moments of course, last week for instance she decided to empty a whole pot of sudocrem (cream for sore baby bums) in her toybox and over the living room floor. She's 16 months atm so I'm guessing it's gonna get a whole lot worse!
  7. LOL! In all honesty, he's really not that bad........DH or DS.

Sometimes I might embellish a bit just for entertainment purposes.
  8. Kids, gotta love 'em.

My first daughter was so awful that she actually improved when she turned two. My second child was lovely until she turned three, and then I don't know what happened. She just keeps getting worse.
