Before you all say “awww” and think this is a cute story about a baby and a puppy’s friendship, realize that it is not. This is a story about the similarities between toddlers and puppies.
It goes without saying that they both have to be potty trained……although I’m inclined to say it is actually easier to teach this to a dog. Not that I have experience with either on this issue, I am just stating what I’ve heard from friends and family. What I do know is that my son, a toddler, who does indeed have a friendship with the adorable pup pictured here, has some very similar characteristics to this wonderful pal of his.
Both of them love to perform. They love to do tricks and show off and of course get praised. They both love snacks, although we call them “treats” when referring to the dog’s snacks. They both love to run around and be free, neither one staying near the adult who is watching them. They both have no concern whatsoever for cars and would run in front of a moving vehicle without a clue.
They both love to be tickled and snuggled and love to give me big wet kisses. Both my son and said dog (who happens to be my parents’) tend to ignore us when they don’t feel like being bothered. They both look like the most precious angels when sleeping, but when they are awake, you can see a little devilish twinkle in their eyes. They like a bunch of the same toys, specifically balls and will gladly go “fetch” one for you if asked.
So you see, toddler and pups have a lot in common. They are both innocent, somewhat bratty, absolutely adorable, and extremely LOVABLE!
