The Happiest Toddler on the Block

A few weeks ago, I got the book The Happiest Toddler on the Block. I liked it right from the beginning, even though, if you’ve read it you may agree, that some of the suggestions are funny or a bit embarrassing if you are in public. Do I care? Not so much. What I do care about is being able to communicate effectively with my child and making sure that we understand each other. This book has helped. Seriously. I have been trying out “Toddler-ese” which is basically toddler talk and you know what, it has been working for us. My son’s tantrums are fewer and shorter. As long as he knows that I know how he is feeling and that I acknowledge those feelings, he seems to get over the fussies fairly quickly. I’m not completely done with the book yet, I’m almost there and can’t wait to finish it because next up is Playful Parenting. I’m pretty sure that my husband and I are already very playful parents, but you can never know too much and you can never stop improving or adjusting your techniques to suit your ever-growing, changing and adjusting child.
