That would be Mommy!

For the longest time I craved to hear the words “mama” come from my little one’s mouth. I knew he knew who I was. The kid was attached to my boob 24/7 for a year and to my hip since then. He is my little postage stamp and when anyone would ask him where or who’s mama – he would look at me, smile real big, point and giggle. Yep, he knows me. Month after month, slowly but surely his vocabulary was growing, but still no name for me.

Until finally…..my son must have heard me talking and telling anyone that would listen how badly I wanted to hear the word, because he did it. He said “mama”. Then he wouldn’t stop. All day long, “mama, mama, mama”. Suddenly I was the 65 year-old cranky lady from that old tv show. If you knew me, the name just doesn’t fit.

I always refer to myself as “mommy”. My husband, my parents, my friends…everyone refers to me to my son as “mommy”. I swear he heard me talking about it again because now I am “mommy”. Yep, all day long, “mommy, mommy, mommy” and I love it. There is no sweeter sound.
