Slides are fun!

I don’t remember loving slides that much as a kid. I remember climbing trees and building forts. I remember riding my bike and feeding the ducks at the pond. Playgrounds – not so much!

My son, on the other hand, loves going to the playground. Granted he is too young to do most of the other things I mentioned, but he has such a love for going down slides.

There is a little playground as you drive through the gate of our development and you can expect to hear the same delightful reaction from my son every time we drive by. He points and giggles, a real big giggle with vibrato. He will spend hours climbing up and down the slides. He raises his hands like he’s on a roller coaster and says “weeeeeee” as he goes down.

Yesterday afternoon, my parents picked up my son for a few hours and took him to the park. They actually took him to the “big kid” park where there are lots of BIG slides. Apparently my son had no problem going up and down every single one of them and he had the time of his life!

Not only does he have so much fun, but he gets really worn out. By the time they brought him home, he was almost asleep. I still had to give him dinner and a bath, but by the time his little head hit the pillows, he was out. Normally he wakes up about an hour into sleep, but not last night. He STAYED asleep!! So, slides are not just fun for him – the result is fun for me too!!!
