Product Review: Peg Perego Highchair

We have the Peg Perego Prima Pappa highchair for our son. It was recommended by a friend and got rave reviews from various moms I spoke to while pregnant. It looked very nice so I figured it was a good idea.

I liked that it could double as a “rocker” for baby and that it had various heights that we could adjust as necessary. We never did use it as a rocking chair, but we did adjust the height. As my son got older, we lowered the chair. Now it is in the lowest position and goes right up to the table. We often use it without the tray.

At almost 2 years old, my son still likes sitting in it.  I’d say that is the best thing about the chair. It’s comfortable. The worst thing about the chair is that it’s horrendous to clean. It gets filthy and has a million nooks and crannies which are impossible to get into.  You have to use a wrench and screwdriver to undo the straps, take off the cushion, take the chair outside and hose it down with a power hose in order to get all the gunk out. How often do you want to do that? It’s cool that the cushion is vinyl because it’s easy to wipe down, but that is just a surface cleaning. When you are dealing with food, you don’t want to leave anything behind.

I love that Jax loves sitting in the chair because he’s comfortable, but weighing out the fact of how disgusting it is to clean, I would not choose this again if I had to do it over and I would not recommend it. Not sure how comfy it would be for a baby, but I’d say stick to the basics. Get a simple, wooden highchair that is easy to clean!! What do you think?
