About six months ago I wrote about what the crack of dawn looks like from my end. Well, I am happy to say that I now have no idea what the crack of dawn looks like. At 5:45 a.m, I am still in bed sleeping soundly.
My usual wake-up call is around 7:15 a.m. and it consists of my son’s warm body climbing on top of me and staring me down until I open my eyes. Then, I get an excited laugh and my son’s head nuzzling into my stomach. We have about 15 minutes of snuggly time until my son scoots of the bed, opens the bedroom door and goes out to find some toys. Every day it’s something different. Sometimes I get a pile of trucks on my head, other times, like this morning, my son grabs a couple of books, climbs back into bed and quietly “reads” between my husband and I.
Normally around 8:00 a.m., I get out of bed, change his diaper and we go down stairs. My son gets his sippy cup full of OJ and I get the coffee pot going. I throw some waffles in the toaster, make an egg, or some cereal and give my son his breakfast, while I do my morning internet routine on the laptop.
My how things have changed! It’s no longer a struggle to get out of bed in the morning. I get to sleep more. My son is happy. Life is good!
