Favorite characters
My son really loves characters. He can name every single dude on Sesame Street, while having a new favorite every couple of days. He gets excited to see Dora and Diego and let’s not forget Boots. He believes the Backyardigans are his friends and can name all of the different trains from Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends. My boy is just enthralled by them all.
Don’t get the wrong idea. My kid is not glued to the TV at all times. He became familiarized with the characters from books long before he watched them on television. I am totally not a brand cautious person, I’m not into having a Thomas train versus a no-name train. It makes no difference to me. Either one will work. However, my son has a thing for “characters”. He loves anything with wheels, but show him a regular car or one of the Cars from the movie CARS, and no question he’ll go for the Disney one.
I’m guessing it has to do with the fact that these characters are given personalities and the fact that he is more familiar with them due to branding and that’s ok. That’s the point, after all.
Having said that, I’m not really into advertising these characters on my kid’s body. Nor am I about to tote around my essentials in a character-clad bag. However, books, toys, plates, movies, and bedding, I am all over it!
I actually have a small obsession with seeing the look of glee and the big smile on my son’s adorable face when he receives something with one of his favorite characters on it. If you are the same way, this site has bedding and diaper bags and children’s room decor that are worth checking out. Oh yeah, the diaper bags are NOT character bags, they are just cool looking diaper bags, which is something I’ve been looking for lately……..again. I used to have a purse fetish, which humorously in the past couple of years has transferred into a diaper bag fetish. Oy! Well, at least I think it’s funny.
