Big Boy Bed

So tonight is my baby’s first night in his “big boy bed”. The mattress arrived this morning. J didn’t notice a thing. He fell asleep on the couch this afternoon and I carried him up to my bed for his nap. Meanwhile, I washed the new mattress pad and made his bed up with his new animal sheets.  After his afternoon snack, I prompted J upstairs by telling him I had a great surprise waiting for him in his room. Intrigued, he followed me and his eyes seriously lit up when he saw his bed. He was soooo excited, he screamed “yeeaaaaaaaaaah” with laughter and jumped on the mattress, inspecting every inch. He played on it for about an hour…..pretending to sleep……touching and naming all the animals…….playing “tim-ber”………jumping on the bed. I just can’t believe my baby is such a big boy!!

Comments:

  1. awwwww! makes me kind of sad to think of how fast they grow.
  2. I know, it is insane! I can't believe he turns TWO in 9 days. It truly is mind-boggling.

This morning J was at our door at 5 a.m. and said in the cutest little voice "mommy?" and I said "come in sweetie" and he came back in our bed until 8 a.m.
  3. Awww! What a cutie! You know we need to see pictures of your big boy in his new bed! And he doesn't have to be asleep.....
  4. Awwwwwwwwwww! How great that he loves his new bed! Even better that he slept in there until 5:00!!! It sounds like your new sleep arrangement is working out perfectly . I'm just in awe at how easy it was for him to start sleeping in his own room!!
  5. Keely, actually I wrote that yesterday.....he had slept on the mat on the floor in his room until 5 a.m. the night before. Last night he slept in his bed until 7 a.m!!! Well, I won't gloat too much. He did wake up at 1 a.m. and I had to lay with him for about a half hour or so for him to go back to sleep......but, still. Oh and I'm with you, I can't believe how quickly he transitioned either. I didn't even have to do anything. I just asked him one day if he wanted to and that was it!! I think it must have clicked with all the reading we do. All the babies in his books sleep in their own beds. He seems to be great like that though......he weaned from the breast, weaned from the pacifier, and now weaned from co-sleeping.......pretty much on his own with some very gentle pushing from me. I'm hoping that will be the same thing with potty training. He's not interested in it at all right now, but I know he knows what it's for so when he is ready, he'll let us know, I guess.

Jana, we did take some pics yesterday so I will post them soon, I promise!

I just hope he resumes to sleeping through the night again soon. I'm very tired!!! I had to go lay in his bed this morning while he played and put toys all over my head. lol
  6. Hah, that's what I get for browsing before I'm awake. 7:00 is even better though! I hope Gavin weans from things as easily as Jax has. At this point, I can't imagine him ever weaning -- from anything .
  7. Wow C!!! That's great how easily he adjusts. Hope it's sweet dreams in the big boy bed!!! I am thankful that Gavin still likes his crib; I am not ready for a big boy bed yet!!!
  8. These are the sheets we got for him:

and I am just about to order these:

    (trains, planes and cars)

Now I just need to find a solid blue comforter or something to match both.
  9. Very Cute, C!
  10. Very cute sheets . I'm beginning to think solid comforters are a myth. At least a comforter to match DS's walls, but .
  11. Cute sheets! He's sounds so adorable C!
My sister just ordered a red race car bed for her son (he turned 2 in april) and this will be his 1st big boy bed. When I asked him about his car bed he got all excited and started saying "Tyler big boy bed, Tyler big boy bed". It was so cute!
