Amazing Pregnant Bellies!

I’m declaring this week “National Appreciation of Pregnant Bellies” week. I know once you get towards the end of your pregnancy, it is hard to move around and you start getting really uncomfortable, if you weren’t already.

30 weeksThis is me at 30 weeks pregnant. I know I don’t look huge, but I felt it at the time. It literally felt like I was carrying around a bowing ball in my belly and those things aren’t light!! It was a struggle just to turn over in bed every night. But, this isn’t about the discomfort of pregnancy.

This is about the BEAUTY of pregnancy.

For one, my arms and legs looked so much smaller in comparison to that big ole belly I was sporting. My nails grew so long and strong and my hair grew so thick and shiny. My boobs were enormous. That could be a good or bad thing, I suppose, but they were pretty perky so I’ll consider that a positive. But, never mind the physical beauties of pregnancy…..

Those special thumps, bumps, rolls and kicks that go on inside our bellies that no one else can feel are the most amazing thing of all. I’m not sure about the rest of you, but my son had a favorite time of day (which was actually really really late at night) to make himself known. My husband and I would lie in bed each night waiting for “party time”, which we affectionately nicknamed this event. We would see my son’s “shark fin” (which we learned after he was born must have been his elbow during one of his famous stretches) sail across my belly. It was amazing.

My husband also got to feel a lot of kicks and thumps from the outside, which I know was pretty cool for him, but nothing compares to us mommies feeling it from the inside. We are so lucky! So, to all of you pregnant mamas or those that want to reminisce, please share with me something wonderful about your baby belly……pictures welcome too. :)
