Packing your hospital bag
I am 37 weeks pregnant and in the midst of packing my bag for the hospital because my OB told me I should have it done by now. I’ve looked online and every list is basically the same, with a few minor changes here and there. I’ve been having a good time washing baby boy’s little clothes to pack, but I’m careful not to wash too many things or take off the tags because you just never know what size the baby will be. I’m 5′7″ and my husband is 6′3″ so it’s quite possible we’ll have a big boy.
Well, so far, this is what I have packed in my bag:
For me
- Robe
- Slippers
- 2 pairs of socks
- Drawstring pants
- A t-shirt
- 1 nursing bra
- 2 pairs of underwear
- 1 nursing nightie (and I’m considering adding another)
- Hairbands
- My cellphone charger - can’t pack the phone just yet!
- A couple sets of nursing pads
For baby
- A onesie
- 2 sleeping gowns
- 2 pairs of socks
- 1 receiving blanket
- 1 hat
Ofcourse I need a “going home” outfit, but before we take the tags off and wash the one I am planning on dressing him in, my mom insists we should wait and see his birthweight. She says she’ll take care of washing it and bringing it to the hospital for us so I won’t argue.
My husband also has to pack some things for himself and I need to finish my share. I will pack a pillow or two, my toiletries, my glasses and maybe some magazines and old movie favorites for mindless entertainment.
Feel free to comment and share what you packed in your hospital bag.
