4 month vaccinations

Today I took my son for his 4-month well baby visit. We waited an hour and a half in the waiting room while a handful of kids were screaming and running around and peering their heads into my baby’s stroller while he was sleeping. At all my previous visits, I was let right into the office and sent to a private waiting room until the doctor came in shortly. I didn’t realize that once they hit 4 months, we’re stuck waiting with everyone else.

By the time we were called in, my son was screaming. He wanted to eat NOW!! Unfortunately I was not allowed to even feed him until he was measured and weighed, temperature taken, and everything else checked. Poor kid was hysterical by the time the doctor asked me to please feed him while we talk. My big boy is 26 inches long and weighs 17 lb 7 oz and is in the 90th percentile for both! We briefly discussed his spitting up issues, gassiness, carseat safety, eating, his head/neck control, whether or not he is laughing (which YES, he is and it’s the cutest thing ever!!!). The doc gave me a few minutes of privacy to finish feeding my son and thankfully he was super happy after his belly was full. I had him in a great mood just in time for his shots.

Today, he got the following 4:
Diphtheria, tetanus and acellular pertussis (DTaP)
Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib)
Polio (IPV)
Pneumococcal conjugate (PCV7)

He screamed his head off while getting them, but was fine as soon as I picked him up. He fell immediately asleep in the car and then slept for 4 hours in my arms when we got home. He was pretty fussy, crying if I tried to put him down or even move…….and groggy, probably b/c I gave him some baby tylenol.

Well, the day is done and he is peacefully asleep right now. Goodnight!
